Welcome to our World!December 3, 2004Happy Holidays! We're doing well - Henry now has two teeth is rolling everywhere. We're looking forward to christmas here at home with Henry. He's too small to know what's going on, but we'll enjoy it anyway.I hope everyone is doing well! November 16, 2004Henry is getting huge! He can also roll over (1 way), babble (a lot!), and almost sit up by himself. He got his first tooth yesterday, but still refuses to eat solid food. He's got this trick of clamping his mouth shut as soon as the spoon gets anywhere near his face. Oh well.As for Justin & I - not much going on. Justin is working diligently & I'm still on my maternity leave. I'm enjoying the last little bit of it because I have to go back to work in January (bummer - I'm getting used to this new lifestyle). I've added a bunch of new pictures, both to "Henry's Page" and to "Trips and Events". Henry & I went to Denver for Halloween, so I've got those posted. Henry was a monkey - go figure. OCTOBER 11, 2004Henry is now about 13 pounds. He's just your regular happy little baby. Not much else is going on with our family. We went to our final wedding of the season over the weekend & Henry seemed to enjoy it. He slept through the ceremony & then through a good portion of the reception - we were very proud. We did add some pictures to Henry's page - go check them out.August 3, 2004Henry is still doing great. He's now up to 8 1/2 pounds. It's amazing how quickly that little boy grows! I've added some new pictures to Henry's page. There also a couple of new pictures on Xavier & Caliban's page.July 17, 2004Henry is home & doing well. We've been visiting all the specialists & everything comes back normal, which is good. He's grown 7 inches and is around 7 pounds now!All the family was here over the 4th of July - see the pictures under "trips & events". We've also added more pictures of Henry, Xavier and Caliban. As for the rest of the summer, we'll be going to Brian & Danna's wedding in Seattle (August), Jarrod & Adriana's wedding in Kansas City (September) and Floyd & Vonda's wedding in Salt Lake City (September). Woohoo! Once fall gets here, we have Kevin & Anne's wedding in Atlanta (October), so we'll be very busy. May 23, 2004Henry is one month old today! He came a bit earlier than we had expected, and has been in the hospital since he was born. He is in the NICU because he was born at 32 weeks (around 8 weeks premature). He was born prematurely because he only had 2 blood vessels in his umbilical cord (generally there are 3). Because of this, he wasn't getting enough nutrients and therefore wasn't growing well. He was born on April 23 at 4:14pm via C-section (due to my placenta previa). He weighed 2 pounds 9.7 ounces and was 15 inches long. He is perfectly healthy, but very small, so he is in the NICU until he gains some weight. Also, because he was born so early, he handn't yet developed the ability to "suck, eat & breathe" at the same time, so he needs to master that task before he can come home. However, as of today he is doing great - he's up to 4 pounds now & eating lots. We've started breastfeeding this week (up until now, he was being fed my breastmilk through a tube in his nose & then via bottle). We're hoping he can come home in the next week or two. Keep your fingers crossed! Historical StuffMarch 29, 2004Howdy friends & family! Not much going on in out world this month....I've got updated pregnancy pictures under the "Trips & Events" page. I had a doctor's appointment about 1.5 weeks ago & Henry is fine. I still have the placenta previa, so I'm still not allowed to exercise or do anything "energetic" - not even vacuum. So, I just lay around all the time while Justin does all the work. Not a bad deal for me! Mom was here visiting. She & Justin painted Henry's room, we bought the baby furniture, some maternity clothes & some really cute outfits for Henry. Plus, mom & I really enjoyed our spa day at Spa Sydell - I was feeling quite spoiled. Not as bad as a suburban soccer mom, but it came close (NO!!!!) February 29, 2004Yes, I know it's been awhile......I'm not lazy, though I swear! I just moved back to Atlanta from Birmingham where I've been on "temporary assignment" since last September. Now Justin & I have to get used to living together all the time again (and not just the occasional weekend together). A lot has been happening in the past few months. The pregnancy is going well...we now know that it's a boy. We've decided to name him Henry McAnany Meads. He should be here sometime in early June. I've discovered that I have a condition call "placenta previa" which is not too worrisome, it just means that I can't travel anymore (oh darn!) and that I need to take it easy. I also have bedrest to look forward to later in the pregnancy plus a planned C-section (no labor? again....darn!). I'm starting to get HUGE so we took a couple of pictures to document this wonderful condition. I've created a new link for the pregnancy. Go here. In other news....we've adopted another dog. Caliban is almost 3 years old and loves hanging around with us. He's decided to steal Xavier's dogbed and to basically ruin Xavier's sleep whenever possible. They get along just fine. We've decided to add him to the web page, so it's not just "Xavier's Page" anymore. Poor Xavier. Just when he's starting to get used to Cal, we'll have a screaming baby to tormet him. Just what he needs in his golden years. I've added some new pictures from Christmas this year on the "trips & events" page and also a new picture of Justin's parents on the "family pictures" page. Sorry for the delay! If you're looking for all the old stuff, go here & read more about us. |
